We spent our last day in Greece in Ancient Corinth.  It took quite a bit of traveling, but we got there and got a pretty gorgeous train ride out of it too.  For some reason, the video from here didn’t save – the probably means I had the go pro on the wrong setting and didn’t know.  Just as the rest of the trip went, we had the place to ourselves.  This is the first time this has caused a problem, though.  We almost couldn’t get a taxi back to the train station.

Ancient Corinth had a population of 90,000 in 400 BC making it one of the largest and most important cities of Greece.  Neolithic pottery suggests that the site has been populated since at least 6500 BC.  It is said the city was originally created by Corinthos, a son of the god Helios.  Or Ephyra, daughter of the Titan Oceanus.

We also got to visit the museum that has an interesting history in itself.  In 1990, it was subject to the largest theft in Greek history.  Robbers entered the museum from the atrium rooftop, overtook the guards, and made off with 285 objects worth over $2 million, and to top it off raided the safe and took $3000 meant to be used to pay the staff.  275 items have been recovered and returned.  And thankfully so.  The museum housed quite the collection.  Absolutely worth the trip it took to get there!

To end our trip we went and got Gyros for dinner and then got Chill Box ice cream again.  Perfect end to the perfect holiday!
