We went to the Guteneck Christmas Market last night and it was amazing! Absolutely my favorite thing I have done in Germany so far! I love the holiday season so this is right up my ally for sure! This market was pretty awesome because it was kind of like a medieval festival during Christmas season.
It is a market that you had to pay to enter, but it was well worth the 4 Euro. Once we got in it was obvious that yes, Germans know how to Christmas better than Americans. While we get into Christmas yes, Germany is rich with tradition. It just has an authentic vibe that makes it feel like the SEASON it is and not just another holiday and an excuse to get free stuff from people. Its amazing!
Anyway, the first thing we did was visit the barn to see the animals. They had lamas (or alpacas? Im not sure? Tell me!),
and bunnies, and ponies, and weasels, and horses. Yeah… I turned into an instant 5 year old child and want to pet and snuggle them all.
After that we watched the parade. It was amazing to see everyone in their medieval garb.
And guys… they had camels!!!! CAMELS!!!
After that we did a lot of shopping and a lot of eating. It was magical and I am not so patiently waiting to go to another market!!!
